Even at the end of a contract, I
think that the investment into a player who has significantly developed during
his time with a club should be reflected in a sizable transfer fee reflecting
the value of a player’s registration. (which should remain with the RFL until
the fee is settled).. As far as I am aware the Bosman ruling was football
specific, and applies to the European Union. When Aussie or Super League clubs
wish to sign players developed by other clubs they should pay compensation consistent
with a players value even at the end of their contract.
