Quote Brian Briggs Ghost="Brian Briggs Ghost"Rugby League has tried to grow in the past & failed as it will again & again. It is a small sport being propped up by Sky. You only have to look at the World Cup BBC only broadcasting games with top nations. Can you see football World Cup being like that.'"
I think that you are doing the game a dis-service.
The game is struggling to grow and improve at the top but, there are more people involved in the game at grass roots level than there has ever been, especially in the South East (quite ironic, given the state of The Bronco's)
Also, the World Cup, although slightly contrived, is probably exceeding expectations.
To compare the RLWC with the round-ball version is totally unrealistic and it is only the hype of this event which stirs the public interest in one sided fixtures.
There are problems with the game and the need for perpetual quick fixes but, at the end of the day we are struggling at the top end, not with the game itself but, with lack of investment/ sponsorship and the people running the sport should shake their collective heads about the lack of decent sponsors for our major competitions.
